Sunshine Blue®   Caryopteris incana 'Jason' ppaf, cpaf

An awesome strong growing Caryopteris with bright gold  foliage. It is a great contrast plant that will add season long color to the garden. Use it next to dark green plants such as boxwood or Alberta spruce or mix it the perennial bed.  This beauty  will add color and vibrancy to any garden, especially in the fall when it blooms.

This is a dramatic improvement over Worchester Gold which has pale yellow leaves, wispy growth and pale blue flowers.

This species of Caryopteris is larger, more woody and hardier than the typical. It is a vast improvement over Worcester Gold.

What people are saying ...

Breeder:  Peter Champion of England

Caryopteris is a valuable plant for the garden, providing late season blooms when many other plants have passed their prime.  The rich blue flowers are appealing, as there are few options for blue color in the landscape.

Although cold hardy to Zone 5, northern gardeners may experience some die back in Caryopteris plants.  As the blooms are produced by new growth, this will not affect summer flowering.  Even as a dieback shrub, bluebeard is a useful plant, especially for drier conditions.  Use it in the mixed border, or as a mass planting in dry, sunny areas.  The flowers and foliage have a pleasant scent, and may be cut for use in arrangements.
