(Cleth-ra: ancient Greek name for Alder)

 

Clethra alnifolia

Prized for its fragrant, white, summer flowers and yellow fall color. An upright shrub that is adaptable to wet soils and shady locations. Available May. AWARDS: PSC

‘Sherry Sue’

Nick-named “Redstem Clethra” because of the new stems are a bright pinkish-red. The pink pigment can also be found in the flowers, producing attractive pink tones. Originating from Dodd and Dodd Nursery in Alabama. A special thanks to Dr. Todd Lasseigne of the J.C. Raluston Arboretum for getting us this wonderful new plant. NATIVE: North America.
