Diervilla
Bush
Honeysuckle
Family:
Caprifoliaceae
(Diervil-la:
after N. Dierville, a French surgeon and plantsman)
|
|
Diervilla
is an interesting genus that was once grouped in as Weigela. It has similar
leaves but in many respects the foliage is nicer, and Diervilla has smaller,
yellow flowers. While this plant will never be a big hit in a garden
center, landscapers really should get to know this workhorse. It's a tough plant
that is adaptable to difficult locations. It can be used much as Rhus a. 'Low-Gro'.
|
 |
'Butterfly'
(D.
sessilifolia) A new long blooming Dutch selection with rich yellow flowers held in upright
clusters from May to July. The foliage is bright green and clean. The habit is
neat, well branched and not floppy like other species. Adaptable to dry shady
locations. A wonderful selection by Pieter Zwijnenburg.
Zone

sites.
