'Pink Cascade'

An astonishing sight to behold! Masses of deep pink flower flowers create an ostrich plume effect in early summer. Light green foliage is juniper-like but soft and feathery. Tolerant of poor dry soils. The habit and flowering display are improved if it is cut back to the ground each winter.

'Atrovirens'

An extremely upright growing pyramidal form with dark, glossy green foliage. Good winter color compared to the species. Slightly loose branching when young, and requires some side shearing to produce a good plant. A favorite in Europe where it is used as a hedge or a specimen plant.

‘Can Can’

'Green Giant'

(syn. T. x 'Gigantioides') A hybrid between T. plicata and T. standishii with excellent vigor. Lustrous rich medium green foliage and a broad pyramidal habit. Found as a seedling by S. Poulsen in Kristgaard, Denmark.

‘Grune Kugel’ 

(syn. T. plicata ‘Eschrich’s Grune Kugel’)

We visited a nursery in Germany called Grune Kugel but had no luck finding this plant, however we have been growing it in our garden and have been very impressed with its dwarf round habit and dark green foliage. It appears that Grune Kugel translates into “Green Ball” and this may explain why we found plenty of tightly sheared boxwood but no Thuja at that German nursery.  Zone 6, 1-2 feet, gr 2
